Some people say the Old Lavaca County Jail has never really been empty, even though its use as a jail ended in 2005.
Whether you believe in all things paranormal or not... the evidence collected by our friends with the South Texas Afterlife Researchers or STAR is piling up. They began investigating the jail this year and have spent MANY hours collecting and studying audio/video recordings and more during their visits to this amazing building. The activity they have witnessed has included disembodied voices, EVP’s, cell doors slamming and both residual and intelligent paranormal phenomena.
In fact, STAR has found the jail so full of activity that they are teaming up with Rita, Inc. to open the jail for private bookings. Over the last few months, they have worked to make this location a clean and comfortable environment that other groups would enjoy exploring and want to revisit.
As of January 1, 2016, the jail will be open for private investigations on Fridays and Saturdays. Go to the "Investigate 1885 Jail" tab for more information and to book.
